Chattanooga Public Library, 2023-2025

During my time working at the Chattanooga Public Library, I was able to create several designs that were used as core merchandise and some for promotional giveaways that our Outreach team would take to community events. The "Libraries Make Shhh Happen" merch line was a huge hit with our library patrons!

My goal with each of these items was to prove that modern libraries are cool, have a sense of humor, and that promotional items have less of a chance of ending up in a landfill if the design is something people actually like.

Mychal Threets, the newest host of Reading Rainbow, and the inspiration for Library Kids all over the world wore one of the shirts I designed! I found his videos shortly after I started working at the Library and instantly fell in love with his positive, cheery outlook and his unflinching ability to speak openly about the challenges with mental health and lack of support that library workers face each and every day. I designed the "Library Kids Will Save the World" shirt as an homage to Mychal.

2 years later he was slated to speak at the 2025 American Library Association conference and I found out the day before that some of our staff would be attending. I quickly asked them to grab a shirt and take it with them on the off-chance that they MIGHT run into him there. To my absolute shock, THEY DID run into him and were able to pass the shirt along. Mychal was very grateful and kind, but sadly didn't have time to stop and take a photo.

Imagine my delight when Mychal not only won the 2025 Webby Award for Social Impact, but announced it wearing the very shirt I had sent into the ether hoping it might find its way to him. It's possibly the coolest thing I have ever experienced and I still haven't even met him....

The Library, The Library Kids, and Mychal Threets are sources of light in this world.

Boyz Day Sleepover, Custom Merch 2025

It's not every day that your son's best friend turns 11! To celebrate, we worked together to create a custom merch line to commemorate the occasion. Milo drew each of the boys' characters and I paired those with a font that had the right vibe! Good times all around!
